Fit optimisation: Barbara Bodice

Since I got a Patreon subscription from Gertie (Charm Patterns) for my last birthday and there are so many beautiful patterns, I finally got around and started to optimise the patterns for my body. I especially like the ones with halternecks, the strapless and the ones with narrow-strap styles!

However, I have noticed with all of them so far that although the bust design basically fits beautifully and the length is also right, the necklines are simply too deep for me, so that my upper bust is virtually uncovered.

At first I thought, oh, just add something to the top and it’ll be fine. But this just didn’t work out! The fit of the bodices were not even close to the nice fit of originals. So I started thinking, it can’t be that I simply can’t optimise the fit here.

I don’t know why I was stumped for so long, but at some point it finally dawned on me. 😀 All I have to do is lower the bust point of the patterns and add the length that the pattern moves upwards to the lower area.

I first I gave the Barbara Bodice (although I am not really a Barbie fan) a try, but on this one it seemed the easiest to move the bust point. And voilà…. this is what my first result looks like.

Of course, I still have to make some adjustments here and there, but as a basis it looks quite good and my boobs are covered!
