… you have to unpick it! Hmpf
I put it off for ages! There was soooo much work involved in the colourwork. But it just wasn’t meant to be.
Reasons:
The one project, the round yoke simply wouldn’t allow me to actually lift my arms (not even on the second attempt with a larger size). The other one had a mistake in it that, once I’d spotted it, I simply couldn’t ignore. Unfortunately, it didn’t help to just leave the projects be and hope that something would change. Because it doesn’t.
So yesterday, I managed to bring myself to unpick everything. To be honest, I was crying inside. *sob*
My approach to “If it doesn’t work out…”
After that, I went straight about winding the wool up neatly again with my yarn winder, because when – and that’s might take a good amount of time – I finally have the courage to start another colourwork project, I won’t fancy working with tangled balls of yarn that I’ve wound up by hand. That way, I can put the wool away neatly for now and then start fresh at a later date with ‘fresh’ wool and a spring in my step.
Result
What’s more, I’m feeling much more at ease now, as I’ve officially got just one project on the go again. It’s something I’ve always been proud of, but with that colourwork – it looked soooo lovely – I just couldn’t bring myself to unpick it straight away. Normally, my rule is: start a project, finish it, and only then start a new one.
How do you deal with situations like this? Do you unpick it straight away, or put it aside for a bit out of frustration?
