Uuuuuh the Ellie Summer Top by Simone Ryan (Rust Knitwear) was a great project and really fun to make. The instructions are well done, wonderfully written and easy to follow.

The Back
I first had to familiarise myself with the i-Cord technique, but it’s not as difficult as I thought.
I just have to think about the i-Cord cast-on again! Despite much larger needles, it has unfortunately become far too tight for me. Now the upper back feels too narrow for my taste. But well, it’s a top and therefore it doesn’t really matter. 😉
I have also made the following changes to fit my body proportions:
– used size: S
– I have slightly lengthened the front ‘straps’
– at the front neckline I increased another 8 stitches, which has also made the neckline a little deeper. (I really really like it)
– I knitted the top approx. 6cm | 2,36 inch longer
– since I didn’t use the specified wool, but Lana Grossa – Meilenweit Seta (a sock wool made of 55 % virgin wool (merino), 25 % polyamide & 20 % silk in the colour: 26 | blackberry), the top is very elastic and unfortunately difficult to block. But it feels great on the skin. I needed less the 200g (despite lengthening & slightly larger row gauge)
I like striped patterns, so this top is right up my street, but the decorative pattern on the side makes it a real eye-catcher for me. What do you think?
The Side
I can really recommend this knitting pattern and will certainly use it again.
The front
Info: For knitters who are not so confident with adjustments or alterations, I would recommend the specidied wool, or one where the gauge is really accurate, because the original look of the decorative pattern is very dependent on the right number of rows.
